Reflex Arc Of The Arm
Image Description:
An image showing the Reflex Arc of the Arm.
The reflection is always the same: the limb is drawn towards the body. When the flame burns a finger, the Pain message goes towards the spinal cord. In the spinal cord, information on pain is sent simultaneously to the cerebral cortex and through a Neurone to the Motor Neurone. In this way, the muscles contract immediately and one pulls his / her hand out of the flame at about the same time as the message arrives on the cortex and one realises the pain.
