Yoga Anatomical Illustrations

The MSIC has an extensive library of yoga illustrations, showing both the body positions and anatomy involved in yoga poses. These illustrations can be used as a visual aid to learning and teach the poses, and as an aid to show the muscles involved in each pose. Our illustrations are available for academic and educational use, as well as for marketing and software use, including for use in apps.

Styles of Yoga

Yoga Pose Revolved Triangle Parivrtta Trikonasana
There are many different styles of yoga and each has its own characteristics, aims and technique. For example, some focus on improving flexibility, some focus on strength or balance, some focus on the spiritual side, some take place in a hot and humid room, some are done slowly, and others involve changing poses rapidly. The most common forms include Iyengar and Hatha (these are more gentle and suitable for beginners and experts alike), Ashtanga and Vinyasa (these are faster and more suitable for those already experienced in the poses, and Bikram (this always involves the same 26 poses in the same order and is done in a hot and humid room).
