Drainage of an Abscess (Adult)
Image Description:
An abscess is a pocket of pus that forms under the skin around an infection. Treatment of the abscess requires a surgical incision or lancing in order to drain the pus. After an abscess has been surgically drained it is packed with gauze. The purpose of packing is to prevent the skin edges from re-sealing.
