Menopause Hormone Replacement Chart

Oestrogen affects how the skin looks, whether bones are strong and healthy and it can protect against heart disease. It also regulates the menstrual cycle. When levels of oestrogen in the blood are highest the hypothalamus in the brain release the hormones that make a follicle release an egg. Progesterone is the female sex hormones produced by the ovaries and adrenal glands. Testosterone is produced in the ovaries and plays a role in conserving bone after menopause.

Menopause symptoms can be hot flushes and night sweats. For women with cancer, menopause may begin earlier if treatments cause the ovaries to stop working. This is called premature menopause.
