Whipple’s procedure is also known as pancreaticoduodenectomy. In a standard Whipple procedure, as shown in the illustration is where the surgeon removes the head of the pancreas, the gallbladder, part of the duodenum and a small portion of the stomach called the pylorus, the lymph nodes located near the head of the pancreas.
