Foetal Development from Week 9 to 16 (African heritage)
Image Description:
The developing foetus (fetus) from week 9 to 16. These illustrations show the foetal (fetal) development week by week. These week by week stages of foetal development are part of an illustrated set of all 40 weeks. The resulting new born baby at week 40 from this set, has been illustrated with an African heritage.
These illustrations are based on foetal development from the time of actual conception. An unborn baby spends around 38 weeks in the uterus, but the average length of pregnancy, or gestation, is counted at 40 weeks. Dating a due date of the pregnancy, therefore, is counted from the first day of the woman's last period, not the date of conception which generally occurs 2 weeks later.
