Nissen Fundoplication Surgery

Nissen fundoplication is the surgery used to strengthen the valve between the oesophagus and the stomach. This is to stop leaks of acid, or backflow of acid from the stomach into the oesophagus which causes painful inflammation. This condition is known as GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease. The surgery can also be known as laparoscopic fundoplication.
