Image Description:

The carotid arteries are main vessels that deliver blood to the brain. There are one of these arteries located on each side of the neck. They can become blocked which reduces blood flow. If they become partly or totally blocked by fatty material called plaque then this can reduce the blood supply to the brain and there is a risk of stroke.
