Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is a blockage of the small veins that drain blood from the retina. They appear as blotchy, red patches where there are dilated and tortuous retinal veins present. Also present can be cotton wool spots, swollen optic disc, diffuse intra-retinal haemorrhages.
