Bones of the wrist and hand are formed by eight small bones collectively referred to as the carpal bones. Five metacarpal bones make up the structure of the palm of the hand which is referred to as metacarpus. The finger and thumb bones are called the phalanges where the fingers have three phalanges each the proximal, middle, and distal phalanges. The bones of the arm are called the radius and the ulna.
