Image Description:

The knee is a hinge joint and is the largest joint in the human body. The knee illustration shows the knee in flexion anterior view but it can perform as well as flexion, extension as well as slight internal and external rotation. Allowing smooth movement are the articular disks of the knee joint called the menisci. The two discs are called the medial meniscus and the lateral meniscus. The ligaments surrounding the knee joint offer stability by limiting movement.
